Duncan Adams

Duncan Adams is a Partner and Managing Director of TriWest Capital Partners. Duncan is currently Chair of the Board of Phoenix Fence and is a member of the Board of MaxAssist, Alta West Capital, and Spence Diamonds. Duncan formerly served on the Boards of PRT Growing Services, Trimlite Manufacturing and California TrusFrame. Duncan also serves as the President of the Calgary Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.

Prior to joining TriWest in 2013, Duncan worked in the Investment Banking group at Canaccord Genuity in Toronto, where he executed M&A advisory and equity financing transactions across a diverse set of industries.

Duncan graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, with an Honors Degree in Business Administration. He concurrently received his Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with distinction) from the University of Western Ontario.

Austin Andrusiak

Austin Andrusiak serves as an Associate in TriWest’s investment group. Austin is a member of the investment teams for The Fastener Group, MaxAssist, Kayden Industries, and Prostar Energy/Morpheus Energy Services, and Source Energy Services.

He brings experience from Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets, where he worked as an Investment Banking Associate in the Calgary-based Global Energy group, contributing to numerous M&A advisory mandates as well as equity and debt financings across the energy sector. Austin began his career with TD Securities in its Global Energy group, also in Calgary.He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan.

Jeff Belford

Jeff Belford is a Partner and Senior Managing Director of TriWest Capital Partners. Jeff is Chair of the Board of Lithion Power Group and Prostar Energy Services, is a member of the Board of Source Energy Services and Coast Appliances, and was formerly on the Boards of 10 of our divested Portfolio Companies.

Jeff joined TriWest at the inception of Fund II in 2003 from Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company Inc., a TriWest Fund I portfolio company. Jeff was CFO of Swiss Water from 2000 to 2003, during which time the company was listed on the TSX as an income trust. From 1996 to 2000, Jeff was Director of Finance and Operations for Descente North America, an international sportswear company. Prior to Descente, Jeff spent seven years with Kraft Foods in various finance roles.

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Dave Connolly

Dave Connolly is a Partner and Managing Director of TriWest Capital Partners. Dave is currently Chair of the Board for Outdoor Adventure Group and is a member of the Board of The Fastener Group, Coast Appliances, Strike Group, Kayden Industries, Broda Group and Fraser River Pile and Dredge (FRPD).

Prior to joining TriWest, Dave worked at Blackmont Capital in the Investment Banking Group in Toronto, where he was involved in M&A advisory assignments and equity financings in a variety of industries, including industrials, mining, telecom and financial services.

Dave received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree, with a concentration in finance, from the Queen’s School of Business, where he graduated with First Class Distinction. Dave is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Society Calgary.

Chad Danard

Chad Danard is a Partner and Senior Managing Director of TriWest Capital Partners. Chad is currently Chair of the Board of The Fastener Group, Alta West Capital, Supreme International and Bull Moose Capital, he is a member of the Board of Outdoor Adventure Group and MaxAssist, and he formerly served on the board of 11 of our divested Portfolio Companies. Chad was previously a Director of the Calgary Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.

Prior to joining TriWest, Chad worked at Morgan Stanley in the Global Energy and Utility Group in New York and in the Canada Group in Toronto. While at Morgan Stanley, Chad was involved in a variety of M&A-related strategic advisory assignments, equity offerings and both private and public debt financings. Chad also spent time in India, where he co-managed the day-to-day operations for the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley Advantage Services.

Chad received a Bachelor of Commerce degree (finance concentration) from the Queen’s School of Business, where he graduated at the top of his class.

Dino DeLuca

Dino DeLuca is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of TriWest Capital Partners. As COO, Dino is responsible for a wide variety of areas within TriWest, including finance, investor reporting and relations, governance and administration, as well as supporting the investment team and our portfolio companies. Dino is also Chair of TriWest’s Investment Committee.

Prior to joining TriWest in 2015, Dino was a Senior Partner at Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP, a leading Calgary-based law firm. His law practice was focused on commercial transactions, banking and equipment finance. He also had a significant role in the management of BD&P as a Member of the Executive Committee, Chair of the Business Development Committee and Chair of the Commercial Transactions Group. Dino has been recognized with several honors throughout his distinguished legal career, including being named one of the “Best Lawyers in Canada” continuously since 2006.

Dino is currently Vice Chair of the Board of the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association and recently joined the Board of The Calgary Airport Authority. Dino formerly served on the Board of Directors of STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service) for 7-years (2013 to 2020), including 4-years as Co-Chair. STARS operates the not-for-profit helicopter ambulance service in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Dino holds degrees in Mining Engineering and Law from Queen’s University, and he was called to the Alberta Bar in 1988.

Katlyn Fix

Katlyn Fix is a Controller in the finance group at TriWest. Before joining the firm, she worked as an accountant at MNP LLP, providing assurance and tax services.

Katlyn earned her Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 2014 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from the University of Alberta.

Ryan Giles

Ryan Giles is a Partner and Senior Managing Director of TriWest Capital Partners. Ryan is currently the Board Chair for Spence Diamonds and Coast Appliances and is on the Board of Phoenix Fence, Strike Group, Broda Group and Colter Energy. Ryan was formerly Chair of the Board for PRT Growing Services and served on the boards of Lithion Power Group and Northern Mat & Bridge. Ryan also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and was previously on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association.

Prior to joining TriWest, Ryan was an Associate with Onex Corporation, where he was actively involved in evaluating and conducting due diligence for new investment opportunities for Onex Partners Fund I. Previously, Ryan worked in the Canada Group of Morgan Stanley and was involved in various M&A and financing-related assignments.

Ryan graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, with an Honors degree in Business Administration. He received his A.B., Economics and Math, from Bowdoin College.

Patrick Gobran

Patrick Gobran is a Senior Associate on the investment team at TriWest. Patrick serves on the board of Spence Diamonds and is a member of the investment teams for Colter Energy, Bull Moose Capital, Coast Appliances, Outdoor Adventure Group, Phoenix Fence, and Alta West Capital.

Before joining the firm, he worked in the Investment Banking Group at Stifel FirstEnergy in Calgary, where he participated in numerous M&A advisory assignments, as well as equity and debt financings across the energy sector. Prior to that, Patrick began his career at a Calgary-based merchant bank.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Real Estate from Longwood University, where he was a member of the Division I Men’s Golf Team. Patrick is also a CFA Charterholder and an active member of the CFA Society Calgary.

Nicole Ireland

Nicole Ireland is an Accountant in the finance group at TriWest. Before joining the firm, she worked as a General Accountant at Walton Global Investments Ltd., where she was part of the corporate accounting team.

Ron Jackson

Ron Jackson co-founded TriWest in 1998, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in senior management with Burns Foods. He served as President of Burns Foods for the 10 years prior to founding TriWest, during which period the company expanded to generate over $1 billion in sales annually.

Ron has invested in all of the TriWest Funds and continues to take an active interest in TriWest’s activities.

Lorne Jacobson

Lorne Jacobson co-founded TriWest in 1998 and, as Vice Chairman, contributes a wealth of knowledge in the areas of corporate development and law. From 1994 to 1998 he served as Vice President, Corporate Development and General Counsel of Burns Foods Limited. He was responsible for a variety of corporate acquisitions, divestitures, and financings as part of the management team for this leading Canadian food company.

Prior to Burns Foods, Lorne was a partner in the Calgary office of the national law firm of Bennett Jones where he specialized in corporate and securities law.

Lorne serves as a director or officer on a number of public and private companies and charitable organizations, including as Chairman of the Board of Governors of Trinity Western University, and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Venture Capital Association.

Morgan Kalansky

Morgan Kalansky joined TriWest in July 2023 as Executive Assistant to Mick MacBean, Dave Connolly, and Logan Miller. She brings more than 15 years of experience in the investment banking and wealth management sectors, with a strong background in senior administrative support and operations management.

Mick MacBean

Mick MacBean is a Partner and Senior Managing Director of TriWest Capital Partners. Mick is Chair of the Board of MaxAssist, Strike Group, Broda Construction, and Kayden Environmental Services and is a member of the Board of Monarch Industries, Peloton Computer Enterprises, Prostar Energy and Colter Energy.  Mick also currently serves on the Board of Directors of two TSE listed companies.

After spending the early part of his career at an integrated advisory and private equity firm, Mick executed his hand as an entrepreneur, building a very successful Western Canadian based services firm from a start up to an ultimate exit to a TSE listed purchaser over a ten-year period.Mick holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Director.

Yuliia Makarova

Yuliia Makarova joined TriWest in 2023 as a Receptionist / Administrative Assistant. She supports Senior Managing Directors, a Managing Director and the Associate team. Yuliia is a highly skilled Project Assistant with experience at GFA Consulting  Group Gmbh, where she successfully led communication with international organizations and government authorities, coordinated experts and contractors, and organized multiple webinars, master classes, conferences, and training for numerous participants. Yuliia also recruited national non-key experts, trained and supervised teammates, and provided reliable personal assistance to the international team leader. She was instrumental in the development of an online platform for Ukrainian refugees. She holds a Master’s in Modern Linguistic Studies (Kyiv  National Linguistic University).

Logan Miller

Logan Miller is a Vice President in the investment group. Logan serves on the boards of Phoenix Fence, Outdoor Adventure Group, and Kayden Industries and is a member of the investment teams of MaxAssist, Peloton Computer Enterprises, and Morpheus Energy Services. Logan formerly served on the board of Northern Mat & Bridge and was a member of the investment teams of Triple M Housing and International Fitness Holdings.

Prior to joining TriWest, Logan worked on the Investment Banking team within BMO Capital Markets’ Global Energy group, where he was involved in various M&A advisory mandates and debt and equity financings.

Logan earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree (with distinction) from the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta, with a major in Finance and minor in Operations Management.

Norm Rokosh

Norm Rokosh is a Partner and Senior Managing Director of TriWest Capital Partners. Norm is Chair of the Board of Fraser River Pile and Dredge (FRPD) and was formerly on the Boards of 10 of our divested Portfolio Companies.

Prior to joining TriWest, Norm was President/CEO of several publicly traded industrial and service companies with operations in Western Canada and internationally from 1997 to 2009. In 2008, Norm was ranked 4th in Canada’s “Top CEOs of the Year” for three-year investor return from a public company.

Norm holds an engineering degree from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the London Business School, U.K.

Sydney Ross

Sydney Ross is the Manager of Tax & Compliance within the finance group at TriWest. Prior to joining the firm, she was a Manager on the Speciality Tax team at MNP LLP, where she provided tax compliance and planning services.

Sydney holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from MacEwan University and earned her Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in 2021. She has also completed CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program.

Akash Sekar

Akash Sekar is an Associate on the investment team at TriWest. Akash is a member of the investment teams of Strike Energy, Coast Appliances, Peloton Computer Enterprises, Lithion Power Group, Supreme International and Spence Diamonds.

Prior to joining the firm, he worked as an Investment Banking Associate at CIBC Capital Markets within the Energy, Infrastructure & Transition group in Calgary, where he contributed to various M&A advisory mandates, as well as equity and debt financings across the power, utility, and energy infrastructure sectors. Before that, Akash began his career at Credit Suisse in its Global Energy and Infrastructure group based in Calgary.

Akash holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (with distinction) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (with distinction), both from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business.

Jon Spencer

Jon Spencer is a Partner and Managing Director of TriWest Capital Partners. Jon is currently Chair of the Board for Monarch Industries and is a member of the Board of A Parent Media Company (APMC), Supreme International, Lithion Power Group, Bull Moose Capital, and Prostar Energy Services.

Prior to joining TriWest, Jon worked at RBC Capital Markets in the Global Energy Group, where he was involved in several public equity offerings and mergers and acquisitions assignments.

Jon graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, with an Honors degree in Business Administration.

Mike Stone

Mike Stone is a Vice President on the investment team at TriWest. Mike serves on the boards of Lithion Power Group, Supreme International, Monarch Industries, and Alta West Capital and is a member of the investment teams of Strike Group, and A Parent Media Company (APMC).

Prior to joining the firm, he worked at TD Securities in both the Global Energy Investment Banking Group in Calgary and the Diversified Industries Group in Toronto, where he was involved in a range of M&A advisory assignments and equity and debt financings.

Phyllicia Thornhill

Phyllicia Thornhill joined TriWest in 2022 and is an Accounting Supervisor on the finance team. John Watkins

John Watkins joined TriWest in 2011 and is a Senior Vice President in the finance group. Prior to joining TriWest, John was a Manager at MNP LLP where he provided assurance, tax and advisory services.John received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and has earned his Certified Public Accountant (New Hampshire, USA) designation. John is also a CFA Charterholder and a member of CFA Society Calgary.

Katie Webber

Katie Webber serves as Executive Assistant to the COO, Senior Managing Directors, Managing Directors, and Vice Presidents at TriWest. She is also a key member of the Investor Relations team and manages the day-to-day operations as Office Manager.

Before joining TriWest, Katie gained diverse experience across several industries, including IT, oil and gas, and commercial real estate. She brings over 18 years of expertise in office administration and C-suite executive support.
